The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Psalm 19:1
I think about you now and then. I used to think about you a lot.
At the beginning, when we left school, I’d miss your company a lot. Honestly, I thought we wouldn’t drift apart. But, in a way, I’m not that surprised that we did. Maybe I started to see certain things in you that I didn’t before, or only accepted them recently.
It’s sad because I always thought we would be close. It’s my fault too though. I should’ve done more. But friendship is a two way street.
This post makes me sound like I’m bitter. I’m not though, honestly. At first I was quite upset when I realised things weren’t as they were before, and not what I imagined, or wanted them to be. I think I was so upset because I had built you, and our friendship, up in my mind as more than you were and regarded our friendship as being stronger than it is. High expectations lead to disappointment I suppose. Now that last sentence really makes me sound bitter.
But I guess I’ve accepted this change as part of life, and I’ve accepted you with all your charms and faults. I still love you and all your faults regardless of what happens in the future.
This has also made me realise how harsh I am at times. It’s something I shall endeavour to change, starting from today.
